Minds like Meat

Well, you guessed it. I am referring to the minds of men. It seems appropriate to compare our minds to a food that all men, who can really claim the title, love to consume.

Let me back up and preface this post with my thoughts on a nice steak. A well-prepared steak will not need any A-1 sauce. It will be thick,8-24 oz. in size, and dripping with a combination of juice and blood once prepared. Medium rare is the only way to go. But the key to preparing this steak is the marinade! Whatever your marinade may be, this steak should be soaking in it between 12-24 hrs prior to cooking in order to truly soak up all the juices. For a sample marinade, try the one below: (Best with Pork Ribs)

2 tablespoons of black pepper
2 cups of soy sauce
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
16 ounces of beer

In a sense, our male minds are like the meat we eat: They take on the character of whatever we soak them in. Only after going through the fire, however, does our true flavor come out. If we constantly soak our minds with lustful thoughts, tv shows where women are half naked, Maxim magazine, etc. Then we will surely struggle with Pornography. I can say this as a result of experience that it is only a matter of time when we flirt with the little things before we move onto the bigger things. The same goes for drugs, alcohol consumption, and making money. The content of the mind creates the character of the man. Men who give most of their mental energy to the next toy they want to purchase become materialists. A guy who is always maneuvering himself into opportunities to impress others could be classified as a narcissist. Men dwelling in their next orgasmic experience can be described as hedonists.

It is time for us men to start living with some integrity, to place the priorities of God before the desires of our flesh. The way we do this is by soaking our minds with the scriptures daily. It is difficult not to lust after a woman if you are staring at porn all the time but it is easy to suppress the desire to look at porn when you are meditating on the decrees of our Lord! I leave you with Proverbs 27:19:

"As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man!"

May what is in our hearts be exposed and examined by the living and active word of God!
